Natural Travertine

Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by mineral springs, especially hot springs. It is formed by minerals dissolved in ground water, which are then deposited on the earth’s surface by rivers and natural springs.

Extensive deposits can be found at Tivoli in Italy. In fact the Travertine name comes from this town. The best example in the world that hosts 40% of the reserve of Travertine and Marble can be found in Denizli, Turkey.

Travertine stones naturally have holes and pores on their surface.

FINISHES 

The natural surface of travertine permits different finishes, depending on its use or application.

Polished The most characteristic finish, one that achieves an inimitable effect that reflects light and objects like a mirror.	Rough The stone is presented in its natural state both in colour and in texture. Hand made, each piece of travertine is unique.
Aged A special treatment gives it a texture that enhances the natural properties of the stone and the aesthetic force of its seams. The surface is irregular.	Honed This finish gives the stone greater character and prominence when laid. It reflects the light, but with lower reflection. The surface is smooth.
